What are the types of Food License?

There are 03 types of FSSAI Registration in India under which you need to apply for the food license. You need to choose the type of category according to your business needs and requirements. Below we are sharing the details about these three type for FSSAI Registration.

Basic Registration: FSSAI basic registration is for the business having annual turnover less than the 12 lakhs per year. If you are running a small food business like tea stall, food stall or home based kitchen with annual turnover less than 12 lakhs then you can go for the basic registration.

State License: FSSAI State License category is for the food business owners having turn over more than the 12 lakhs but less than 20 crores. If you are a wholesaler, manufacturer, reseller, distributor, hotel owner or any other food business owner with turnover above 12 lakh then you need to apply for the state license under FSSAI. Under this license you will be able to sell your food products anywhere in India without any problem, you just have to mention your FSSAI License no. on you product packaging.

Central License: Central FSSAI License is for the big food business owners having turnover more than 20 crores annually. If you are an Importer or Exporter of food products then you also need to register under the FSSAI central license category. Ecommerce operator also needs to get central registration for selling food products on their website.

  • Visit the official website of FSSAI at https://foscos.fssai.gov.in/
  • Click on the Login-Business link given on the top of the website.
  • Enter FSSAI Application Reference No./ License No./ Certificate No.
  • Enter your password
  • Click on the issued certificate option on the page.
  • Click on download button to download fssai certificate

What is the Procedure to Register for the FSSAI?

  • Visit the official website at https://foscos.fssai.gov.in/
  • Click on Apply License/ Registration
  • Select your state from the list
  • There choose the kind of your business from the list (i.e. Manufacturer/ Retailer/ Trader/ Food Service etc.)
  • After that choose the type of your business and then select your business turnover.
  • Fill all your details (i.e. Name, Address, Email, Mobile No, etc.)
  • Upload all the necessary documents and make the government fee.
  • After submission of your application you will get an acknowledgement number which you can use to track your application.
