    The full form of ESI is Employees State Insurance. Every employer or company having more than 10 employees with a maximum salary of Rs. 21000/- needs to apply for the ESI Registration within the 15 days of its applicability. In some of the states the employees limit is 20.

    After getting the ESI Registration Online every employer has to contribute 3.25% of the total salary of his employees and the employee also have to pay the contribution of .75% towards the ESIC.

    Every employees who are not getting salary (including bonus, overtime, leave encashment, etc.) more than the 21000/- monthly are eligible for the ESI scheme. Employees who are getting an daily wage of Rs. 176/- are exempted from the ESIC Contribution.

    Advantages of ESI Registration in India

    If the sickness lasts for a maximum period of 91 days in an year then the sickness benefits are given to the employees at the rate of 70%. The ESI Benefits are given in the form of salary to the employees.

    Medical benefits are given to the employees under the ESI Scheme. The employee is given the medical benefits for him/herself or for his/her family.

    Death benefits are given to every employee under the ESI Scheme. If death occurs of any of the employee during the duty then 90% of his/her salary is given every month to his/her dependents.

    Maternity benefits are also given to the female employees under the ESIC Scheme. Paid leaves are provided to the female employees as the Maternity benefit under ESIC.

    Funeral expenses are also given the the dependents of the employee under the ESIC.

    Old age care medical expenses are also covered under the ESIC. Every employee will be given old age medical expenses as the ESIC Benefit.

    ESI Return Filing and Its Due Date?

    Half Yearly Returns needs to be filed (April to September) on 11th November.

    Annual Return needs to filed till 31st January.
